A Wedding at Cathedral, Ballard
Every once in a while, you photograph a wedding that reminds you just how fun and light-hearted love can be. Jim and Anh’s wedding at Cathedral in Ballard was exactly that — a celebration that didn’t take itself too seriously, filled with genuine laughter, close friends and family, and some unforgettable reception surprises.
The day started with portraits at their nearby hotel and around the streets of Ballard, where the vibe was relaxed, playful, and full of anticipation. Jim and Anh were totally themselves — easygoing, present, and clearly just so excited to celebrate with their people. Every photo from that morning just radiated warmth.
Their ceremony at Cathedral was simple and meaningful, framed by the soft light that fills the space so beautifully. There was no big production, just two people choosing each other in front of those who mattered most.
And then the reception kicked off with a full-on power hour of dancing — no slow warm-up, no easing in, just straight to the fun. The energy in the room was electric, with everyone on their feet and fully in the moment. It set the tone for a night that was all about joy.
After the dancing came Mario Kart on a projector, bringing out everyone’s playful side — couples racing, guests cheering, and laughter filling every corner of the room. Then, just when it felt like things couldn’t get more fun, the mic came out and karaoke took over. It was wild, hilarious, and incredibly heartfelt, with friends and family singing their favorite songs and creating the kind of memories you really don’t forget.
What made Jim and Anh’s wedding so memorable wasn’t just the fun (though there was plenty of it). It was how it all felt so true to them — from the casual, intimate vibe to the creative twists on tradition. It was about love, yes, but also about celebration, connection, and not being afraid to have a really, really good time.
Jim and Anh, thank you for letting me document a day that felt so full of personality, love, and joy. Your wedding was a reminder that the best weddings are the ones that reflect the couple completely — dancing, Mario Kart, karaoke, and all
