A Rattlesnake Lake Engagement Session
There’s something about Rattlesnake Lake that always feels a little bit magical — especially when the weather doesn’t follow the script.
When I met up with Jennifer and Joel for their engagement session, the skies were moody, the clouds heavy, and rain felt like it could break at any second. But instead of hoping for sunshine or rescheduling for the perfect forecast, they just leaned into it. And honestly? That made all the difference.
There’s a quiet beauty in days like this — the colors are deeper, the light feels cinematic, and everything seems a little more alive. Jennifer and Joel embraced the whole experience: barefoot on the rocks, wind in their hair, wrapped up in each other and totally in the moment. Nothing felt posed. Nothing felt forced. Just two people in love, surrounded by water, trees, and a sky that matched the mood in the best possible way.
We wandered along the shoreline and through the evergreens, capturing images that were raw, romantic, and entirely them. One of my favorite things about working with couples like Jennifer and Joel is how naturally their connection comes through — even when the weather isn’t “perfect,” the moments are.
This session wasn’t just about pretty pictures — it was about documenting what it looks like to be present, to trust the process, and to let the day unfold as it’s meant to. And it was a reminder that sometimes the most unforgettable sessions are the ones where nothing goes exactly as planned… and that’s exactly what makes them special.
Jennifer and Joel, thank you for embracing the mood, the mist, and the moment. You two made this day unforgettable.
