A Day Close to My Heart
Some wedding days stay with you because they’re beautiful. Others stay with you because they’re personal. Olivia and Owen’s day was both — and getting to photograph my own sister marrying the love of her life in Ohio is something I’ll carry with me forever.
June showed up in the best way — warm air, soft light, and that quiet kind of summer calm that makes everything feel a little more meaningful. From the start, the whole day felt grounded in love and familiarity. Being behind the camera while also standing inside the moment was surreal in the best way, watching someone I’ve known my whole life step into this new chapter.
Olivia and Owen have the kind of connection that doesn’t need to be loud to be felt. It’s steady, genuine, and deeply rooted — the way they look at each other, the way they laugh, the way they naturally fall into step together. Photographing them felt less like documenting a wedding and more like preserving something sacred.
There were so many small moments that stood out — quiet smiles, tight hugs, hands held just a little longer. The kind of moments that might go unnoticed by most, but are actually the heart of a wedding day. The real story lives there.
As the evening unfolded, it hit me just how rare it is to witness something like this from both sides: as family and as a storyteller. It was emotional, joyful, and incredibly grounding — a reminder of why I do what I do in the first place.
Because at the end of it all, weddings aren’t about timelines or details or traditions. They’re about two people choosing each other, fully and intentionally. And getting to document that for my sister and her husband was one of the greatest honors I’ve ever had behind a camera.
